i've been reading days , still can't make confident decision on battery, except i'd rather not use lipo battery unless can talk me out of it. charging unsupervised.
about project:
-rover
-4wd
-estimated weight when finished 5-7lbs
components power:
-2 x mg995 servos datasheet
-4 x 12v/100 rpm geared dc motors zga25rp datasheet
-rpi various sensors/leds
i got little nervous selecting hobby grade battery after messing around 11.1v lipo battery airsoft gun , melted stuff
. there many variables , questions don't know answer to. if please me select appropriate battery project appreciated!

so long don't mind spending few bucks on charge controller, lipo relatively safe. of horror stories come stuff produced in millions shaving $0.50 off cost of each 1 makes big difference profit @ end of day.
you haven't given useful details on how long want run, average power consumption is, how space or weight have available battery , on. since have no idea real power consumption is, suggest start battery fits space , make measurements determine real consumption.
