i using arduino nano windows 8. prototyping simple products , need use arduino brains of unit.
using current software uno works but, when hook nano upload fails. error message.
avrdude: ser_open(): can't open device "\\.\com3": semaphore timeout period has expired.
when go tools while using uno, board registers own com port. when use nano shows com 3 , 4. when plug uno in windows recognizes instantly, not recognize nano @ all. nano shows unknown usb device in device manager. have looked drivers , messed of settings no avail.
any can give appreciated!

is official nano?
there 3rd party ones may need own drivers , windows run in "no questioning mode" allow unsigned drivers.
